There's a hole in the bucket

There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, a hole.

Then fix it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then fix it, dear Henry, dear Henry, fix it.

With what shall I fix it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
With what shall I fix it, dear Liza, with what?

With straw, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With straw, dear Henry, dear Henry, with straw.

The straw is too long, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The straw is too long, dear Liza, too long,

Then cut it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then cut it, dear Henry, dear Henry, cut it.

With what shall I cut it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
With what shall I cut it, dear Liza, with what?

With an axe, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With an axe, dear Henry, dear Henry, with an axe.

The axe is too dull, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The axe is too dull, dear Liza, too dull.

Then sharpen it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then sharpen it, dear Henry, dear Henry, hone it.

On what shall I sharpen it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
On what shall I sharpen it, dear Liza, on what?

On a stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With a stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, a stone.

The stone is too dry, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The stone is too dry, dear Liza, too dry.

Well wet it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Well wet it, dear Henry, dear Henry, wet it.

With what shall I wet it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
With what shall I wet it, dear Liza, with what?

try water, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
try water, dear Henry, dear Henry, water.

In what shall I fetch it, dear Liza, dear Liza?
In what shall I fetch it, dear Liza, in what?

In a bucket, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
In a bucket, dear Henry, dear Henry, bucket.

There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, a hole.

Vision and Purpose - Peter Senge

Vision is a specific destination, a picture of a desired future. Purpose is similar to a direction, a general heading. Purchase is abstract. Vision is concrete. Purpose is "advancing man's capability to explore the heavens." Vision is "a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s." Purpose is "being the best I can be." Vision is breaking the four minute mile.

Nothing happens until there is vision. But it is equally true that a vision with no underlying sense of purpose, no calling, is just a good idea - all "sound and fury, signifying nothing."

Conversely, purpose without vision has no sense of appropriate scale.

Taken from "The Fifth Discipline: The Art & Practice of The Learning Organisation" by Peter M. Senge.

Research is about...

...getting the information (collecting), boiling it down (reducing), organizing it in various ways to help you to see patterns and relationships (displaying), deciding what you have got (drawing conclusions), and satisfying yourself and others that you have found what you think you have (verifying).

The entire process involves repetitive loops: what you learn in one stage may send you on to the next stage or back to an earlier stage.

Earthen Jar Treasure Herbal Soup

No this blog is not dedicated to food recommendation, but here's another one I've read today (so happened) that I am intending to try someday.

This stall served double-boiled herbal soup, and according to this blog, they have six healing soups: Healthy chicken soup, ginseng chicken soup, pork with or without lotus root, black chicken and duck soup.

Will try it someday...

[Updated 23 Apr 2010]

Tried Ah Chiang's Porridge today. I like the thickness and the smooth flowing of the porridge, and the nice fragrant too. Perhaps it's after an evening shower where the weather was quite cooling, I like the whole setup of sitting alongside old HDB void-deck, surrounded by very old and low building that is easily more than 30yrs of age. The coffeeshop itself has this only stall and is very clean and tidy, the tables and chairs are quite new. You can take a peep at the kitchen area and grab a glimpse of how the porridge were being cook on charcoal.

Overall I like the ambient of the place and the porridge's great! I will recommend it.

Here's some pictures:
